**Prayer and what it really means for me**

Lately I have been thinking about prayer a lot. The word is nice to say but what does it mean? The definition of prayer is: “An address to God OR A God in word or thought, an earnest request or wish”. That is rather broad I think. But I like how it says “A God” meaning it is up the the person praying to decide which God or Goddess they will pray to.

In the “Wellness Workbook” which I am working through now I believe in chapter 4it talks about giving a small prayer before a meal just to remind your body to slow down, enjoy this food that is going to nourish you and that it was grown from our Mother by aid of a BEing just like us who worked hard to be able to feed our Planet. I have done something kind of like this for about 2 years, but it isn’t something I do at every meal. When I do it I put my hands, face down over my meal, when it’s hot to be able to feel the heat from my food. I then close my eyes and say thanks to whomever made this food possible, thanks for the energy it will give me and “tell” my food where it needs to go to nourish a certain section of my body. I had thyroid problems for a long time, I still do but not even as much as I used to, so I would ask my food to target my thyroid gland and my blood to help me get healthy again. I do believe this worked…

I have been really interested in looking at prayer in a way that isn’t “religious” but spiritual. I am definitely into any and all earth-based religious beliefs, so what kinds of prayers can I say or teach others that come from earth-based religions. I then turned to Native American prayer. They are the ones that have all the prayers for and about the Earth. I also have been reading a website called “world prayers.org”. I will put up a link to this awesome site on my blog. Please check it out, I learned a lot.

There is one Gaelic prayer that has been adapted and shortened but I love it and want to share it with you; I am trying to memorize it and use it in every aspect of my life.

Deep peace of the running wave to you…

Deep peace of the flowing air to you…

Deep peace of the quiet Earth to you…

Deep peace of the shining stars to you…

Deep peace of the infinite Peace to you…

So this something I want to say to folks as they pass me by, who like they may NEED some healing or to my friends and loved ones. To farmers who grow my food. I am fortunate enough to live in the Northwest and around here we really do love our farmers and love eating local so I will direct this to them a lot!

I found this prayer, or affirmation that I fell in love with, please read it, and FEEL it…

We give You thanks for food and drink

and all that You provide;

Flowers, Mountains, stars above,

Family by our side.

Grant that we might hear Your voice

and always be our Guide;

from now until the end of time

may we in You, abide.

Amen and Blessings

I also found a wonderful Native American prayer that says…

I do not think that the measure of a civilization

is how tall it’s building of concrete are,

but rather how well it’s people have learned to relate

to their environment and their fellow man.

*Chippewa Medicine Man-Sunbear*

I think these are some prayers and affirmations that can easily become apart of your every day life. Bring this love of the Earth and our Planet into your daily consciousness. It’s not hard to simply give thanks even for the smallest things. Don’t take things for granted, I did at one time in my life and I felt empty. Now I accept that I was wrong and foolish then and know to change my ways. I have and will remember to keep doing and saying the prayers of peace that are in my heart and soul.

“Rise up on this magnificent day and bring to it your smile”  this is by Me, Melissa Magic,  tell your friends, it makes people smile!

~~xoxoxo, blessings~~
