thinkin’ of road trippin’

I was thinking a lot today about being on the road, seeing the country and listening to your favorite tunes! I love that feeling. This is one of my favorite things to do in all the world! I love being on a road trip. It seems to bring out the best in people(ok, the worst too…) I have seen them both happen, It seems to bring out the best in me, for sure!

I have no idea why on such a crummy weather day I was thinking about this. Actually it makes sense. I love sunshine and dancing and hula hooping ANYwhere outdoors, so I guess I was trying to boost my mood! There was no sun today, just wind, rain, snow, millions of clouds and sad, long faces on folks in general. A little ‘fake’ sunshine that I created in my head, sure helped.

I was putting together my list of favorite road trip music, kinds of music and artists and songs. There is certain songs that bring back memories to me when I hear them. Like every time I hear Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir” and “White Summer”, I remember being on the road traveling all over the Southern States with a friend after the Bonnaroo Music Festival this past summer. We had some of the best times you could possibly imagine. I loved that whole Summer! I love thinking about me Hooping under the sunny rays while I was standing in front of “New Mastersounds” playing one of the best live shows I have seen! I have been fortunate to have seen a ton of live music over the years, and that rocked my world! Now when I think about dancing, or being at a Festival, I remember that show like it was yesterday…

Making your mind think of pure bliss and positive fun times when you are in a rut, or are having a bad day, sure helps. I know that my mind is POWerful and at these times I realize just how much I can create for myself by thinking positively and go forth with a smile!

I lent out a favorite live show recently to a friend and now that I think about it, it’s taken a long time for him to get it back… and I miss it! It helps me get things done and brings me back, yet again to a wonderful time in my life. Music really plays a role in my daily life, and I am thankful everyday that I have my hearing! It’s something you take for granted, but I try not to because of things like this. I remind myself often that I am truly blessed. If you can hear and LOVE music thank your Angels and Goddesses (or Gods) that you are allowed to here the music that comes from peoples hearts and souls!

I want to extend out to you a list of great(in my opinion) bands tolisten to you while on the road. I know there are thousands, but here are some of mine. I could write a ton more on this subject!!

~Widespread Panic (any LIVE show is better than any album). These guys Rock!

~Bassnectar (His name says it all)…

~Led Zeppelin

~The Doors

~Ween( every album is different) ummm… Chocolate and Cheese!

~Seb Fontaine

~ Van Morrison (*any*)

~The Descendents

~NOFX(Yep, different I know, but I can’t help it, I like them!)

~Janis Joplin

~Johnny Cash

~The Traveling Wilbury’s

~NIN(Pretty Hate Machine)

~The Grateful Dead

~Motion Potion(DJ that mixes oh, so well!)

~Bluegrass (mixed”tapes” of different bands)

~Metallica (OLD Metallica!)

~Pink Floyd(did you think I would forget??)

~Talking Heads (David Byrne is a genius!)

~Paul Oakenfold

!~ MIXED TAPES and CD’s!~ full of old and new…

I guess I will stop here, there are so many more and I know the minute I stop typing I will think of 10 that I SHOULD have wrote down! Oh well, more for later then, right?!

I still think it’s funny that I am thinking of Summer and road trippin’, in the middle of Winter! :) Makes me so happy. I would load some pics of my summer road adventure but they are not on this computer so …. well that is too bad, huh! I have some great shots of big and unknown artists and bands from all over the world. I was lucky to watch so much talent unfold in front of my eyes!

I guess now that I literally am salivating over summer camping and Festival season, I will end here and go do some work. If I wasn’t in the Northwest where there is only clouds and NO sun, I would go outside and be happy about it. It takes me a lot to LOVE the rain… I like rain when there is a slight mist and a rainbow appears and it’s rather warm and there are fairy’s and dragonflies fluttering around my head… Listen to me and my fantasies, geez! Am I spoiled or what? ;)

Have fun thinking of your own fun road trippin’ music and amazing times. It’s good to get out of your head like that, isn’t it?

Love and joy upon your (impending) travels!
